Nodebots Day Austin
Why
We want to show that node is an all-purpose, fun tool by showing its potential with hardware. How? By bringing together those interested in node and hardware hacking, and giving them an open space to hack, collaborate, learn, and share their results with others.
What Cool Stuff can I do?
Checkout the Johnny-Five examples for some examples of cool stuff to do with Node and Arduino.
tl;dr - You can do stuff with motors, servos, sensors, LEDs, in categories like home automation, robots that move, walk, and dance, and just about anything you can wire together.
How
BYOHardware -- Assume there will be no hardware waiting for you at this event. You will need to purchase your own, but no worries, we have some suggestions:

But what libraries do I need?
You should download Node.JS version 0.10.x from nodejs.org. Then create a new directory for this event, and run
npm install johnny-five
Inside that folder. Here's the GitHub repo for johnny-five with more information.
We will probably also have people showing up with Raspberry Pi boards. That's totally fine! We want to encourage any interested node hardware hackers in Austin!
But I don't know how to use Node for this/don't know electronics/etc
That's okay! We will have mentors who know how to get you up and running with both the ctronics and the code. We want to create a good environment for those new to hardware hacking.
