Additional Information

Artemis

24 developers, designers, web hackers and tinkerers on a boat. No internet, no fixed schedule - just talks, sailing, wind, food and great people.

We gather in Hamburg on Friday September 20th, travel together to Kiel and board the ship on Friday evening. The ship will set sail and we will travel the Baltic sea, probably towards Denmark or Sweden, following the wind. Ticket includes food and transport from Hamburg to the boat.

Listen to some inspiring talks, or present something you fancy to everyone. Relax, enjoy the sea and (hopefully) the sun, get to know all the awesome people around you. Hang out on deck or in one of the two saloons. How does setting sails or a behind the scenes tour in the engine room sound like?

The ship will be back in Kiel on the evening of Sunday, September 22nd, and we will arrive in Hamburg around 19:00.

The accomodation

All cabins will be two persons each, every cabin has a separate tiny shower and toilet. Feel free to tell me a designated roommate during the ticket purchase, or later on by mail.

If you are interested in a room with a double bed, please let me know. All beds are separate by default.

Artemis

The boat

The Artemis was built in Norway in 1926 for whaling purposes and sailed until the late 1940s in the North and South Polar Seas. In 2001 the Artemis got new owners who transformed her into the elegant sailing ship she once was. The ship has central heating and air-conditioning. Of course all prescribed safety provisions for sailing the seven seas are present.

The Artemis is about 59 meters long, and has 18 sails with a combined size of 1050 square meters. More pictures..

The tickets

Food is included in the ticket, as is the transport between Hamburg and Kiel. Drinks are not.

The event is non profit, all money made will end up in the event. Feel free to ask for details.

Standard Tickets are 750€ each, and include 19% german sales tax.

Ticket sale ended on August, 30th.

The fine print

Please note: We are on the sea. There wont be internet, and mobile coverage will be sparse, too. Better prepare to be off the grid. And remember to bring warm, wind- and rainproof clothes and shoes.

Hint

Another cool event in Hamburg, right before nerdboat: So coded conference. There will be a shuttle from So Coded to the nerd boat, but you will miss the last talk - the so coded shuttle will leave around 5.30pm.
